My name is Ashina, or Ash for short. I’ve been filming and editing professionally for about 10 years. As a kid, I had a knack and curiosity for video, sound, and music. From a young age, I’d constantly swap out my parent’s VCR, home stereo, our Nintendo, and our LaserDisc player. We also had a BetaMax video camera that my Dad used to film and make family videos. I didn’t really know it at the time, but I had a penchant for electronics from an early age. 

As I got older, I developed an interest in mixing records, photography, and recording audio. I studied music production, and really learned the ins and outs of my camera while interning with a father and son production company in Evanston, IL. Eventually, my interest in photography and sound morphed into an ever-growing curiosity and enthusiasm for video. 

Now, I film and edit full-time and have filmed countless live events, talks, musical and dance performances. In addition to weddings, I film and edit for the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, other arts and education-related institutions and individuals, small businesses, and corporate gigs. I’ve done some filming and editing for a documentary that is still in progress, and I have a Part 107 drone license.

Some of my other hobbies include collecting and playing vinyl records, practicing Aikido, playing tennis, basketball, and piano, talking about films and cinematography, catching up with friends, learning random information, eating, and traveling. So far, I’ve been to Japan, Australia, Mexico, Canada, Chile, Denmark, Germany, Cambodia, Thailand, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, France, Italy, and China (briefly). 

I believe there is a huge amount of sensitivity and observation required to film a wedding, and like to think of your wedding video as a future cherished family keepsake.
